As a high school student, I was looking for a meaningful way to do my share during the coronavirus pandemic. I wanted to make a difference, but I was unsure how. Then it came to me. Many of my friends’ parents were being furloughed or laid off of work and their children were no longer able to participate in extracurricular activities because of cost. I looked around my room at the many basketballs piled up in one corner, weights in another and, I thought, if I had all of this “extra stuff” lying around then others must too. I built this website as a way for us to work as a community to unload “stuff” that we no longer need or “services” we can offer, such as sports coaching, tutoring and other services without actually paying in cash for it. Rather, we are paying in “kind” during this hard time and enforcing that as a community we can collectively help one another one “neighborexchange” at a time.
